Baby Shampoo/Conditioner recommendations

Ultimate Recommendation (what I would buy for my baby): Pipette Fragrance-Free Baby Shampoo + Wash, but CeraVe and Aquaphor also have great products that meet this criteria. Many of these products are similar, and most babies do not need the most sensitive, allergy-free product - so feel confident using whatever works for your baby and budget. If you notice a rash or irritation, then switch.

So, there are 4 things you should look:

  1. Make sure it’s free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, dyes, and strong fragrances — these can all irritate a baby’s scalp and skin.

  2. Choose gentle cleansers, with ingredients like like coco-glucoside or decyl-glucoside, instead of harsh detergents like sodium lauryl sulfate.

  3. Look for “tear-free,” “hypoallergenic,” and “pediatrician-tested” on the label. These tend to be better pH balanced for a baby’s skin and eyes.

  4. You don’t really need a separate conditioner for most babies. Their hair is naturally soft — a 2-in-1 gentle shampoo and body wash is usually perfect.
